Our Roadside Repair Class is a one-night class covering the basics of bike repair. Our objective is to help you deal with those pesky roadside/trailside emergencies that can spoil your ride, like flat tires and problematic brakes. This class lasts approximately two hours and is limited to 6 students. Students are encouraged to bring their own bikes to get experience working on their own equipment. Loaner bikes are provided for anyone who needs one. Cost = $150. Includes free $45 value flat repair kit. Registration limited to 4 students. This includes the complete disassembly of your bike, and the reinstallation and adjustment of all moving parts. The labor to replace any needed parts, as well as to install most accessories is included. Brake bleeds are not included. E-bikes and Cargo bikes are an additional charge. We rent road and hybrid bikes for the 5 Boro Bike Tour, Ride to Montauk, Gran Fondo, and NYC Century weekends! Rental includes helmet, bell, and flat pedals (or optional pedal install if you choose to bring your own). Bikes will be ready for pickup in-store the day before the ride unless other arrangements are made. Please return all rentals to the same store by the day after the ride. Stock is limited - reserve early. Due to high demand, all special event rentals are non-refundable. The bike's specific model is given as a general guideline and not a guarantee for exactly which bike you will receive. We want you to have a great experience. Please obey the rules of the road, be courteous to your fellow riders, and review the terms of rental. Riders are responsible for any damage or theft to rental bikes. Next class begins 4/4 with Geoff. 4/4, 4/11, 4/18, SKIPS 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16 This course covers more thorough bike maintenance knowledge, detailing the different parts of a bicycle and how the parts work together. Class size is limited to six students, assuring everyone a place to work and get dirty. Classes meet once per week for six weeks; each session is two hours. Week 1 - Introduction to the course, flat repair and drivetrain basics. Week 2 - Drivetrain, gears, shifters, etc. Introduction to brakes. Week 3 - Brakes continued, wheel truing. Week 4 - Introduction to hubs and bearing surfaces, including headsets. Week 5 - Introduction to Bottom brackets, and cranksets. Week 6 - A chance to ask questions not covered, and to bring in your own bike to practice what you've learned with the guidance of your instructor at your side.
