Bicycle Habitat Roadside Repair Class

Our Roadside Repair Class is a one-night class covering the basics of bike repair. Our objective is to help you deal with those pesky roadside/trailside emergencies that can spoil your ride, like flat tires and problematic brakes. This class lasts approximately two hours and is limited to 6 students. Students are encouraged to bring their own bikes to get experience working on their own equipment. Loaner bikes are provided for anyone who needs one. Cost = $70 Classes are held in Chelsea on Wednesday and Friday nights. Advanced registration is required. If you're buying a class for someone as a gift, please select "This class is a gift" at checkout, and the recipient can schedule their class with the instructor. Bicycle Habitat Moment - Employee Tune-up

Moment will pre-pay for a Basic Tune-up ($75) for eligible employees. To redeem your tune-up, purchase it online here and select the store of your choice. When prompted for payment, choose the “I will call with card number” option. Once you have done this, you will be in the system as a Moment employee. When you come in with your bike to the store you have chosen, a tech will do an estimate and let you know what the turnaround time is. (In season, you can expect the turnaround to be up to a week. Tune-ups are not done on the spot. If it is more convenient to keep the bike until the tune-up day, you are welcome to drop it off the night before or morning of.) Please note that this credit is only for labor. Parts are not included and may be extra. When the mechanic writes up an estimate, they may include a list of parts that need to be replaced. If you opt for a higher level tune-up, the $75 credit will be applied to that. After you "purchase" this tune-up online, please allow 48 hours for your name to appear in the system before coming into the store. Note: there are different levels of tune-ups. Moment is paying for the basic ($75) or $75 towards a higher one. If you opt for a higher one, you are responsible for the added cost. Email emily@bicyclehabitat.com with any questions.
Bicycle Habitat Five Borough Bike Tour Rental Sunday May 5th - Road Bike

We rent road and hybrid bikes for the 5 Boro Bike Tour, Ride to Montauk, Gran Fondo, and NYC Century weekends! Rental includes helmet, bell, and flat pedals (or optional pedal install if you choose to bring your own). Bikes will be ready for pickup in-store the day before the ride unless other arrangements are made. Please return all rentals to the same store by the day after the ride. Stock is limited - reserve early. Due to high demand, all special event rentals are non-refundable. The bike's specific model is given as a general guideline and not a guarantee for exactly which bike you will receive. We want you to have a great experience. Please obey the rules of the road, be courteous to your fellow riders, and review the terms of rental. Riders are responsible for any damage or theft to rental bikes. Bicycle Habitat 6-Week Intensive Repair Class
$300.00
This course covers more thorough bike maintenance knowledge, detailing the different parts of a bicycle and how the parts work together. Class size is limited to six students, assuring everyone a place to work and get dirty. Classes meets once per week for six weeks; each session is two hours. Cost= $300. A deposit of $150 will be taken to hold your spot. Week 1 - Introduction to the course, flat repair and drivetrain basics. Week 2 - Drivetrain, gears, shifters, etc. Introduction to brakes. Week 3 - Brakes continued, wheel truing. Week 4 - Introduction to hubs and bearing surfaces, including headsets. Week 5 - Introduction to Bottom brackets, and cranksets. Week 6 - A chance to ask questions not covered, and to bring in your own bike to practice what you've learned with the guidance of your instructor at your side. To cancel registration, you must do so at least two weeks before the class begins. To transfer your registration to another date or location, you must do so at least one week before the class begins. After that, the deposit is forfeited.
